Meet Mia
Please think of this little place on the web as my backyard bonfire. I’d love to have you pull up a lawnchair and make a s’more. I say bonfire instead of, say…a dining room table, because I am more of a barefoot, casual girl. I don’t own china and would just as soon get to know you in a more genuine (even if sticky from the s’mores) way.
I guess this is where I tell you a little bit about myself; I love photography, sewing, flowers from the garden, and curling up with a good book. I remember asking if creativity was a college major. I ended up with a degree in photographic imaging and graphic design, and have never looked back. Mia ink. was founded in 2004.
I am married to the most genuine, talented and amazing man. We photograph weddings together, so some of you may have the pleasure of meeting him. I may be biased, but he’s really fun and I’m pretty sure you’ll think so too. We have three (mostly) sweet daughters who make our world go ’round.
I thank God everyday for the opportunity to do what I love, work creatively, and meet amazing people. Capturing memories for generations to come is truly an honor I do not take lightly.
Meet D.J.
D.J., or Darrell if you meet him at his office (but nowhere else), has been shooting weddings with me since we were dating back in college. An engineer by trade, he likes all of the logistical and technical skills of photography as opposed to my artistic whims. He is 100% in charge of getting us to all wedding locations, hauling all equipment and gear, hanging out and shooting the guys of the bridal party, and making sure every name is crossed off the family portrait combination list before the reception starts.
He has a magical way of making weddings both calmer and more fun at the same time. He is also the master of capturing amazing candid moments that are such fun surprises for me when I begin the editing process.
BOTTOM LINE: D.J. makes weddings run smoothly for everyone.
